Frequently Asked QuestionsWhose idea was this, anyway? It’s always God’ s plan and His timing. The original sanctuary was built in 1986. God gave blessed us with 13 acres, we want to use it for His honor. He must want us to use it, was the thinking. Much growth has happened in the last 20+ years, yet we are still in the same sanctuary. There have been two previous attempts to put together a building plan in the past 10 years, but they were put on hold by the Elders after sensing it was not God’s timing. We are proceeding at this time with a complete plan and campaign because the church leadership senses that we are where God wants and needs us to be. It seems kind of overwhelming! Is this project too much for us? Undoubtedly, it is a God-sized vision! We want to be able to say as Isaiah did, “...all that we have accomplished, You have done for us.” (Isaiah 26: 12 ) A noted author wrote, “If the primary aim of a captain were to preserve the ship, he would keep it in port forever.” Risk-taking is not optional. It is basic to faith. The history of the church illustrates that greater advances were made when men and women sensed where God was moving and risked everything to move along with Him. Yes, it is a “big” vision because we serve a “big” God. And because we’re lead that this is His vision, He will provide everything we need to bring it about. Our present sanctuary is a special place… what will happen to it? It will continue to be a vital part of our ministry and will be turned into a multi-purpose community room that will be used by all ministries on a regular basis. This will allow for smaller or more intimate gatherings. Do we have to grow?? What if we become too big? The church’s mission has always been to reach the lost for Christ. The vast majority of people living in Germantown, Menomonee Falls, and the surrounding Greater Milwaukee area is not hearing the Gospel each week. Approximately 1,200 people attend Evangelical churches in the Germantown area out of a population of more than 18,000. That’s just Germantown. As God expands the FAC family, there will be expanded ministry opportunities (e.g., of community and men’s/women’s groups) that will ensure that everyone builds strong personal and spiritual relationships. Building fellowship will be the foundation for building the church. It doesn’t stop with Phase I, does it? When does Phase II begin? This will depend upon the rate at which we eliminate the debt incurred in Phase I. New church buildings often attract even more people, which can impact how soon we are able to eliminate our existing debt and begin Phase II. A re¬evaluation of where we are in terms of attendance and giving at the end of the three years will be needed. Can you tell me, will anything remain the same?! God remains the same…yesterday, today and tomorrow. Our focus on the great commission (Matthew 28: 19-¬20) remains the same. Our vision and mission to see each other and our neighbors come to know and passionately follow Jesus Christ remain the same. Our commitment to sharing biblical truth in our preaching and teaching remains the same. Our programming and ministries to equip the saints to do the work of the Father remain the same. The building, which is one of our most essential tools for accomplishing all this, is being expanded. And, God willing, so will the number of people who call Jesus Christ Lord and Savior in the Germantown and surrounding areas.
